A popular trend in Istanbul of late is the combination bookstore-café. While many proprietors separate the book section from the café, Charlotte McPherson’s Greenhouse Café sees both sections fully integrated. You can sit surrounded by all manner of books (including an excellent range of Turkish cookbooks), flip through the latest magazines or peruse the bookshelves. Weather permitting, the outdoor terrace is a pleasant place to sip coffee. There is also an underused seminar room in the basement.

Great selection of children's books in English and a wide assortment of other topics for adults. Well worth the visit. Stock has high turnover. Imports every 6 weeks from UK. It is also a community feel offering seminars and Turkish classes.

Greenhouse is friendly and helpful
Greenhouse Bookstore has moved to 17 Dumlupınar Sokak which is just down the hill from Moda Caddesi. It no longer has a cafe but still has loads of great English language books and they also have an online bookstore where you can buy books or find out about seminars, Turkish classes and events.

This is the only place to buy English language books for Adults and Children on the Asian side of Istanbul. THey have a good selection of books and mostly the cover price is cheaper than shipping it here from overseas.
