Back to The Westin Nova Scotian Lousy is the word for your website Don't you think the contact telephone should be mentioned somewhere loud and clear right upfront. I have been scouring your website for the past 20 minutes for a phone number and nothing. Zippo!!!!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 04 2009 Stay Away !!!!!! Probably the worst Hotel we have ever stayed in. Checked in on Saturday night after being on a plane all day. Our room the bathroom had been given a quick wipe down by the cleaning staff, forgot to clean the toilet and there was broken glass on the floor. Friends room pube hairs in the bed and the bathroom counter still had makeup and toothpaste stains from the last resident. Gave us a new room on Sunday this one was clean and the bed didn't sag to the floor in the middle. Also gave us a free breakfast buffet on Sunday morning to compensate for the crappy room. The food at Elements was decent but I fairly certain I won't go back to this Hotel again.
Reviewed by: Artv from on Oct 18 2008 will only go back because of the location when i arrived the 1st room they gave me had water all over the floor from a storm, the second room i got had been trashed by hockey players months b4 and it wasn't fixed there was holes in the wall and pictures where miss and the lamp shade had a burn marks in it, and then the secong room we got had pee all over the seat. i called the manger of the hotel when i got back and i was told i was going to get a free nights stay and he would mail that out to me in a few days well here it is months later and i haven't seen anything i'm so upset by it all i didn't bother calling back, was too pissed off at the place
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 12 2007 At least they think they're good I just got back and my view of this place is clouded by the cost. All those hidden charges, it's not funny now that the Canadian dollar is so strong. The restaurant Elements is just okay; there are not any first-rate restaurants in Halifax, and yet some do dare to exhibit perhaps a hint of pretension, for example Elements describes itself as "upcasual dining", which is a dumb word coining. But the staff at Elements were real nice, that was good. The air conditioner vents in our room were on the window sill, so if you close the shades, there is no air flow, a poor setup for sleeping. One night we ordered 2 beers from room service, no cooking involved, yet it took over a half-hour, somebody forgot. The location was good at the southern end of the Harbourwalk; they were filming a movie for the Lifetime TV network right nearby on the Harbourwalk, we saw Ricki Lake overact.
Reviewed by: X from on Jul 31 2007 I Disagree with the Nightmare Hotel Comments I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions. It is an Historic Landmark in Halifax so they are passing off nothing. It is accross from Cornwalis Park, attahced to teh Train Station and the hotel is over 100 years old. We often host confrences there and the Catering Services is second to none in Halifax. Efficent, Professional and very friendly. A lot of Westin Hotels are very snobby but not this one. Snobby doesnt fly in Halifax so they obviously know their Market. BRAVO!!!!
Reviewed by: Mark from on Sep 16 2006 GREAT HOTEL I can't say that I disliked anything abou this hotel. I found the men at the front door very helpful and pleasent, they were down to earth and friendly without having their hands out for money every time you turn around. Front deak attendants were also very pleasent and gave great service. All and all, best hotel in halifax!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 11 2005 Awesome Hotel on the Waterfront! Loved the location, downtown Halifax on the waterfront. Charming hotel with great staff that can't do enough for you. Can't wait to come back!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 07 2005 Location, location, location ! We chose to stay at the Nova Scotian because you can't beat it's location. We wanted to visit Pier 21 and the hotel is right across the road. The waterfront is a short walk away as are all downtown attracations - Maritime Museum, Citadel, Casino, etc.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 23 2005 Nightmare Hotel Avoid this place like the plague. It's a beat-up old hotel which is about 50 years past its prime and now it's being passed off as "historic." For those used to Westin comfort and style, you're better off at the Four Points down the block. I got no sleep until 2AM with blaring music and when I went to the bar to have a drink, the bartender didn't have a clue how to make a drink and then didn't offer to remove the charge when I left it after one sip. Starwood needs to get rid of this property.
