The Tollwood Festival has established itself as a firm favorite among locals, quite probably because it makes a pleasant change from the oompah-band, beer-swilling type of festivity Munich is otherwise known for. The festival takes place every summer and winter, featuring live rock and pop acts as well as a smattering of jazz and world music bands, theatre ensembles, comedy and cabaret shows.
