Back to Hotel Transamérica Just ok... The Transamerica bills itself as a "Resort." Well, not really.... it has a swimming pool and a nine-hole golf course, and that's about it. Built in the 60s, it shows its age in the decor and wear-and-tear. It needs refurbishing. It's located in the outskirts of Sao Paulo in the Santo Amaro district; good if you want to stay away from the hustle of the city (the Jardims district is the best choice). Sao Paulo is a huge city (est. 21 million) and with a run down, crowded, old center (worth a visit but not to stay there). The service is very attentive but not everyone speaks English. The Sunday brunch at the main restaurant is outstanding!.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Oct 10 2006 Royal treatment in Brazil The Hotel Transamerica is remotely located, but Sao Paulo is such a big city that it really didn't matter. Let me start with the meals in this hotel... the cusine is so rich in flavors and variety! The gym is not the latest but the hotel also have tennis courts and a mini-golf course. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. I've also used the spa located at the hotel and it's very, very good. I highly recommend the Hotel Transamerica for leisure or business trips.
