The worst city in France
Bordeaux has remained in the XIXth century. It is a very provincial, backward and dirty town. There are many bars and very few elegant boutiques. After shopping in Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles I was sorely disappointed.

Bordeaux's Place to see and be seen
I lived in France as a foreign exchange student when I was 16 years old. Rue Saint-Catherine is definitely the place to see and be seen. It's like an outdoor mall! - which I love. But even if you don't want to shop you can walk the street, see other french people, sit down at a steet cafe and enjoy the French life. Ah - c'est magnifique!

My best memories of Bordeaux
I loved this street. It was more than a street though, it is where I hung out everyday after school. They have beautiful clothing and scarf shops. There are wonderful places to get ice cream, sandwiches, baked goods, and the best pizza in the world!!! I loved how busy the street was with people(there are no cars on this street). When I think of my time in France,Rue Ste-Catherine is what comes to mind.

Ok but nothing special
We went to this shopping street during a holiday in Bordeaux after reading the positive reviews of it on yahoo but I was really disappointed. The shops aren't really anything special compared to the average high street in Britain. We only went in one shop which was the equivalent of a pound shop...The best bit was finding a McDonalds at the end of the street! It's not terrible, just not particularly anything special.

Excellent shopping!
The shopping is brilliant! Went to this place during winter and the main street was still packed with people. Plenty of shops and cafes for your enjoyment.

It's a perfect place for having a walk and a good shopping
It's one of the longest street in Europe and you have to walk 1 hour to go from one side to the other. There are no cars because it is only for walkers. There are lot of nice shops which are cheap especially if you visit Bordeaux during the big solds in July.At the begining of the street there is an ancinet roman arch and in the end is the Square of Victory (Place de la Victoire) with the Monument of Victory. In the street you can find everything you want especially clothes. There is two shops of the famouse chain "La Fayette".If you are going to visit Bordeaux you must also buy and taste from the delicios dessert "canele" which is specialty of Bordeaux and region. There are two boutique pastry shop on the ste-catherine which are specialized in selling this little tasty cake.
