Johannebergskyrkan was, oddly, consecrated in the middle of the Second World War, on Thanksgiving Day 1940. Building had already begun in 1938, after designs by Sigfrid Ericsson, who also designed Matshuggskyrkan. The altarpiece, a bronze sculpture by Johan Lundqvist, was put in place in 1952; the glass cross and the chandeliers were designed by Vicke Lindstrand and made at the Orrefors glassworks.
