Xel-Ha is south of Playa del Carmen on the mainland. The name means “where the waters are born” as reference to the natural coves and inlets that have created the perfect environment for marine life. Snorkeling is the main attraction here. The park also has plenty of souvenir and snack stands. Snorkel equipment is for rent but is expensive. Come early since the place fills up quickly. Turismo Aviomar and Intermar Caribe both offer regular tours. Admission to the park is $33 or $59, and includes food.
