My wife and I spent our honeymoon there and just returned last wednesday. This was the worst trip ever. We both have foo poisining, so bad that we've been put on antibiotics. We stayed at the "Delux" junior sweet and it was awful. The room was infested with roaches an bugs I've never seen in my life. It was damp an musty smelling, the bad linens were damp the whole time. Something must have been leaking cause every morning the floor was soaked. None of the staff spoke english. Always tured to speak spanish to you. No custimer service, they could care less about you. No signage anywhere, you have no clue where to go or what to do. Took us 3 days to discover there was a train that took you around the resort, it had casino written all over it so we assumed it was only to take you to the casino. We could not get out of there fast enough. The beach is beautiful, thats about it. No drinks are served on the beech, anything else you want to do will cost you an arm an a leg. 100 bucks a head to o any of the tours, boating activities etc.. Don't waste your money on this , you'll regret it.

There is nothing to like about this place. The service is awful, we booked the family delux suite for seven nights and when we got there it was not available the first night and they had to down grade our room to a regular room with 2 adults and two teenagers having two twin beds and a sofa was not enough room. My son had to sleep on the floor. The next day we got the room we actually booked at about 5pm then we found out we would have to pay more for the down graded room then the family suite. No one to listen and in the two days we have been there the food is horrible and the service stinks. I would strongly recommend going to another resort or you will be waiting one to two days of your vacation being frustrated.

i loved the barcelo bavaro palace ive been their many times and i always want to go back for more. this place is great and i would love to go back many more times

service is terrible food is passable. Would never return and can't understand how anyone could recommend this place the only thing that makes any sense of the people that recommend is that they have never stayed at a true 5 star

Everything was kept beautifully clean, the people were great, anything you needed was right there. Small touristy market just to the north of the complex, Casino, Golf, Shops and PLENTY of resturants to try. The Beach was kept IMMACULATE! Lots of watersports to enjoy!

The service was really very good, the only thing that I can say was about the evening entertainment was for the over 30's, yes we do enjoy disco's and piano players, but also we do enjoy ok not all but some would like to have I think, band's playing your music and the visitors kind, also the children's age group.

We just returned from the Palace on April 11th 2008. We had a very nice relaxing vacation. The swim up bar was wonderful. Bartenders very good. We always left a tip (one dollar US) which I think did give us better service. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Whatever we asked for was in our room everyday. Our maid was great. Please keep in mind the rooms are very old. We travel alot and we always say the food is just ok. The food at this resort was the best we have ever had. We are not saying it was outstanding but very good. The Steak House at the resort is very good. The front desk could use more help. Not enough help and the wait was a little long. As far as speaking English some speak a little some alot and some none. We did not find this a problem. You need to remember you are visiting there country. Bring a spanish book with you. The resort also has a train like tram that brings you to the other resorts that was great. This was a very nice holiday for us.

Recently, I had my wedding at this resort (April 12). Had 50 people join us from all around USA. Overall, place was great for what we came to do....relax and have fun with our friends. Everything went pretty smoothly. Some issues with food and guests did get ill. Bring lots of pepto and immodium. You have to realize that the food will be different than what we get in the US. Mexican restaurant and breakfast buffet were my favorite. Also, the steak restaurant was absolutely gorgeous and food pretty good. Once, I did not find anything I liked on the buffet after sitting down with guests, so picked up and went to next place. Just remember you can try as much as you want.
