Every Chinese New Year is marked by colourful celebrations in the Stowell Street area of the City. The local oriental community works very hard to produce huge costumes of lions, dragons, and other mythical beasts, which are then paraded along the street accompanied by the sound of gongs, bells, and all manner of other musical instruments. A separate firework display is held nearby after the procession since the use of firecrackers in the actual procession was banned a couple of years ago.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
