The land for this mosque was most probably donated by Abd el Aziz Himood el Jassar, so it would be more correct to name it the Al Jassar Mosque. It only obtained the name Al Sayer Mosque, because the Al Sayer's family home was nearby. The mosque was founded in 1919 but was enlarged in 1935. It then literally fell apart and was reconstructed in 1954 by the Ministry of Awqaf, from religious endowments. It is a very plain mosque, like most Kuwaiti mosques.
