The name of this bright, ornately decorated temple comes from the man who built it. Kanamoto Kosan needed 30 years to complete the structure, and it now stands as one of the greatest architectural feats of the Edo period (1600-1868). His intentions were to honor his deceased mother, and perhaps any mother would be pleased at the kind of beauty found here. The inside as well is ornately decorated and worth an visit if you do not mind paying a little extra in addition to the admission fee.
