Small, elegant and exclusive, this restaurant draws discerning eaters from around the globe. It offers classic French cuisine that is on a par with any restaurant on the mainland. The chef takes a great deal of personal pride in the cuisine, as do the other members of the staff. The Baked Brie gets rave reviews, as does the Supreme de Canard (roast duck in a raspberry sauce). Do not be surprised to find a plethora of couples and gourmands enjoying the cuisine on any given evening.

Not interested in parties of one
I called more than 2 weeks in advance to get a reservation for dinner based on the reviews I read here. The woman who answered the phone was absolutely unwilling to accommodate me at any time other than 6pm, despite the fact that there were clearly tables available at different times. She said she would "have to see." Have to see what? Whether a party of two came along? Overall, a ridiculous and frustrating encounter. Great food can never make up for poor attitude.

I have a conference in Honolulu and was excited to spend a few days on the Big Island. I cannot even believe the ridiculous attitude of the hostess on the phone--holding out for a larger party? Perhaps she should add more tables if she is so worried about
