Back to Sheraton Four Points Not worth the $$, time, and we will never go back. Took wife and 2 kids. Sticky carpet; hair on bathroom floor, walls and door; broken/chipped bathroom tile; NO shampoo or soap in bathroom for us to use; bed springs creaked with every small move; room not soundproof in any way, can hear neighbors; elevators so loud, sounded like an avalanche all night long. Wanted suite with kids in other room for our privacy. Glass windows to other room, no privacy for us! This place has not been updated since the 70's. In the restaurant, 2 waiters for the whole room!!! Nice waiters, but service, NO! Food so so at best. The "only" good thing was the staff was friendly. September 2009.
Reviewed by: Michael from on Sep 20 2009 Disappointed- but staff very friendly Hotel clean and comfy. Staff great- especially restaurant and housekeeping. Internet is practically non-existent. Coffee kiosk closed entire 4 days. Restaurant ran out of food and was under staffed.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 19 2009 Not Worth It! The location was the only thing this place had going for it. Our room was filthy--lots of mildew in the bathroom with crumbling plaster on the ceiling, dirt around the edging near the floor, no soap (we had to call the front desk to get some), garbage in the drawers in the main room. Construction was going on making the pool and exercise room inaccessible. This place was rated 3 diamond by AAA but I wouldn't even give it one! We should have stayed on the other side of the river in Canada. When I complained at checkout about the condition of our room the manager wasn't even available to appease me. WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN and will warn everyone about the place.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 18 2008 Only one thing to offer... Location!!! I am sorry to say we stayed for 5 days. When we inquired about the construction by phone, we were told it was done, but they failed to mentioned that there was scaffolding all throughout one side of the hotel and most important of all that there were construction crews that started work at 6:00 a.m. When we arrived we were told that only one of two rooms booked was available (even though we booked 4 months prior). Not until we asked to speak to the manager was the issue resolved. That same day at 10:00 p.m. we were told that we had to be moved the next day. When we inquired about the move the next morning, the front desk didn’t know anything about it. Overall we were very disappointed with the quality of the place and the service from the front desk to the restaurant. The name of this hotel still remains a mystery… it used to be Four Points by Sheraton. We were told the name changed to Grand Niagara Hotel & Suites, but it has a sign of Holiday Inn. Our receipt shows no hotel name.
Reviewed by: Sagrario from on Aug 18 2008 poor customer service I've satyed at the hotel for 12 hours and I was disappointed that the htel was under renovations. They havn't told us when we did the booking, fine I can live with that, but as soon as we arrived there I dont even know where to enter, there was no proper signage. We went to sign in and I was greated by an unhappy guest relations officer and I dont know if he has a problem people of different race. Anyhow I ignored that coz I don't want to stoop at his level. They were unorganized and don't know how to deal with there customers. I can stand the old conditon of the hotel but I just can't the bad service.
Reviewed by: hannah paris from on Aug 14 2008 Great place We stayed 3 nights. Entire interior has been re-done. Great place to eat. Excelent breakfast bar and the prices are within reason. Service was excellent and the staff was friendly. We had to change our room due to a leaking roof . Helped to move by staff and was given free breakfast buffet. I will return in a minute if the opportunity arises. Our stay was very enjoyable. Thanks staff.
Reviewed by: DON H from on Aug 04 2008 Great Hotel and close to the falls Great hotel. VERY comfy beds. Hardwood floors. Room was in good condition. No hot tub (I think they were putting a new one in. Friendly staff. We pd $110 a night over July 4th. VERY close to the falls. Very convenient when they charge you $10 to park at the falls. What a rip! You are within walking distance to everything. Fireworks are ok. very short. The Seneca Casino had better fireworks. Not much to do besides the falls on the American side. I recommend bringing a cooler with drinks and bring snacks. Most places charge an arm and a leg for drinks/snacks.
Reviewed by: 2Tickets2Paradise from on Jul 06 2008 Very Disappointed We stayed at the Grand Niagara Hotel from 6/22/08 until6/24/08. Although they advertised a pool and hot-tub...they were under construction. Although they advertised a bar and lounge, the hours were very limited, and when open, the young untrained bartender, was more interested in watching a soccer match than providing customer service. When we arrived, I found I needed to clean our bathroom myself, as there were black hairs all over the tub. The 2nd day there, we left our room at 7am (left the sign on our door knob to please make up our room) and returned to our room at 4:30pm to find nothing had been done in our room. We complained to the manager...and he was very rude. we had to sit in our room and watch the maid service our room, as the bar/lounge, and restaurant were not open yet. We spent approx $250 for 2 nights, and will never go back. The words customer service are not in their vocabulary. It doesn't matter that this is a tourist location. The management and staff of the Grand Niagara Hotel just don't care.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 28 2008 Disappointing Great location, loved the VERY comfy beds, great towels..BUT.....their housekeeping left something to be desired.Originally booked because we thought we were booking at The Four Points Sheraton only to find out it had been sold and the amenities that are usually very nice were.....not. No pool, fitness room had VERY used and worn equip. No fridge no microwave. Asked for a smoking room and got non smoking. To be fair, the place is under renovation but the pace of the work might make it necessary to RE-BUILD not just REN-O-VATE. If I had it to do again I probably would not stay there.
Reviewed by: Paula from on May 23 2008 Misleading!!! As a mother of a 6 year old and 2 year old, the only thing I asked for was a pool. But when I saw the website, it said "Pool, indoor gym, playroom, billiards, ping pong" and I thought, "Wonderful!!" Until I got there and the pool was under renovation and it had NONE of the other amenities, for over 2 years. Your website is misleading and deceiving!!! I asked for my money back to go to another hotel that could accomodate me and I was told since I booked through a 3rd party that I couldn't get a refund. I didn't book through a 3rd party, I went the the hotel website and booked. The only thing I was told was that we could use the pool at the Crown Plaza's hotel A BLOCK away. How about 4 blocks away???? Try toting all of your swimming gear and 2 kids 4 blocks!!! What a nightmare!!! Do not stay at this hotel!!!!!
