Overall, a Highly Recommended Resort!
My wife and two teenage daughters just returned from a one-week stay at the Casa Marina Resort. We were in the Suites wing, staying in a one-bedroom suite with a pull out sofa (if I had to do it over again, we'd have picked the two-bedroom, two-bath suites in the same wing. Sharing one bathroom with 3 women was insane.)

Hassles, Hasselles in Paradise, the Casa Marina
When you rent a room in a hotel, you expect free access to the facility, to be able to come and go without impediment. You don’t expect a gang of thugs (two or more + uniformed police), that were not Waldorf Astoria Casa Marina, Key West staff, to stop you at the hotel entrance and demand identification. Let me repeat, these were not hotel staff members, and actually fellow guest. After some time explaining that you are not a part of the private group that the ruffians are representing, you are grudgingly allowed to pass, only to repeat the process at the other end of the lobby where you need to exit to go to your room. There was no other entrance and egress available. After complaining to the Waldorf Astoria Casa Marina, Key West management, they were powerless, and cowed by this organization that had rented out a portion of the hotel. No one said anything about this group function on reservation or on check in or offered any explanation on check in that would have at least alerted me, a full paying guest, of potential issues. I did find a printed notice in my room that informed me that parts of the grounds and facility were rented out to a private party and would not be available.

Luxury Compared To What?
First room was dirty, hair and a women's disposable razor on the bathroom floor. Needs some touch-ups, looking a bit shabby. Was quite disappointing. Left a day early to stay in Ft. Lauderdale.

Worst trip ever
They should be ashamed to call this a luxury hotel. The first room they gave us it was so small, dirty, even the bathroom ceiling was falling down. We were finally able to switch rooms since they didn't have any bed rails for small children. We were offered an air mattress for the kids, which didn't fit in our room. At least once we moved, the new room was cleaner and smelled better. However this air mattress requested at 4:00 pm check in didn't show up until the 3rd request at 10 pm. The next day we come back to our room at 9 pm to find that one of the air mattresses is now gone and the other one is flat on the ground and they have run out of air mattreses. This place is definetly not worth the money. If you have small children stay away from this hotel. They definetly need major training in customer service.

Inside nice, but outside is spectacular...
The location of the hotel and the views from the back of the property are spectacular. The pools are very nice as are the beach areas and anything water related. Our 14 yr old son went para-sailing with the hotel water sports staff and really enjoyed it - and it was actually a good value. Other rentals, such as the jet ski, were overpriced. The lobby of the hotel is nice, but rather austere - but the real beauty is the back of the property with the fantastic water view. Maybe that is what the designer had in minde. There is no dining except pool side and breakfast. Our room, 255, was in the original building, and smelled like it. The hotel and rooms have been redone - very "spa" looking with wood floors and nice colors, flat screen TV, etc. The sheets are a little rough and the pillows a little flat. Worst of all, our room had a bad infestation of ants in the bathroom, and tho we asked for it to be sprayed, the nasty little ants never went away. At check out we told the front desk again - the response, "oh sorry". Our room had a strange vibration that one could feel thru the headboard...as if machinery was running somewhere and the vibrations came up the wall. The room wasn't quiet and we could hear the street noise. It was also hot, the A/C just never got the room cool. We had visited another Hilton/Waldorf Astoria collection hotel, in Boca Raton, before Key West and it was much nicer and more refined. It seemed to better managed than this one. Still, Casa has a great location for sight seeing and the sightseeing trolley/train stops at the hotel's front door - which makes seeing the sights very convenient. You can buy tickets at the front desk or concierge. You can valet park or self park, either way, your paying for it. Casa Marina is a nice place, could be nicer, and really doesn't come across like a 4 star hotel. But once again, one will pay for location, location, location!

Will never return and would not recommend
Paying $400.00 per night was not worth the money. Room description was misleading -- the Vista View was that of a parking lot. Noisy and depressing.

Loved it!!!
My expectations weren't high, as I pricelined this hotel/resort. When hearing that it was our 10th anniversary upon check-in (true), our agents Chris & MJ upgraded us to an oceanview room with a balcony, and gave us a coupon to use on either food or drinks at the outdoor bar or cafe. Obviously, they didn't have to do this, but the staff seemed to go out of their way to accomodate and make our stay one of the best I've had at any hotel.

Loved It!!!!
We recently took our 10 year old son with us. We actually had trouble getting him to leave the complex. The Staff, accommodations and atmosphere were excellent. We are definitely planning on a return visit in the near future.

Don't pay for parking!
The hotel is very nice. The pools are excellent. The beach is serviceable, but the hammocks are a nice tough. The wireless internet does not work and the "business area" is 2 computers with the worst bandwidth I have experienced in 7 years. They try to soak you for $20/night valet or $12/night in a lot across the street, but street parking is free and readily available. Wasn't happy that they provide not accommodations for allowing you to clean up if you stay past your check-out time, not even a shower in the spa!

Casa Marina Was Just What I Wanted
I was looking for a nice place where I could go on my own, have privacy and peace in my room and luxury by a pool or beach. Casa Marina was all that and more.
