The Print Media Academy is a new, futuristic addition to Heidelberg's medieval cityscape. The 50m-high glass construction is owned by Heidelberg Druckmaschinen, the world's leading manufacturer of printing presses, and is intended to serve as an educational centre for employees of the printing industry. The architectural and functional heart of the building is made up of two huge cylinders containing lecture theatres. Artist Jürgen Goertz's 90-ton sculpture of a printing horse provides a notable aesthetic contrast to the building's clean lines. The building is particularly impressive at night when the skyscraper is lit up from within.
