Back to Cave of the Winds Second Time Around I was here when I was 13 and wanted to re-visit it as an adult. I have been to other caverns and it is very disappointing when compared to others. If it was the first cave I'd ever been in, I wouldn't enter another. The drive up the mountain to the entrance is on the side of the mountain with hairpin curves and beautiful views. The observation deck is wonderful, but you could experience that without spending a dime. We had to wait 2 hours for our tour, and then we were in a large group with very obnoxious people who made it their sole aim to show how UNknowledgeable the tour guide was. She was a very nice person and did her best, but the company apparently does not train very well. Easily answered questions were answered with, "You know, I really don't know that..." and any challenges were met with, "Oh well, that's what they teach me to say." Pay attention to the signs about stairs, there are wooden stairs, steel stairs, stone stairs, uneven stairs, small stairs, and my thighs burned for several days. :D I will not return-not worth the money or the time. The cave formations aren't even lit very well. It seems that if they would at least use some colored gels to point out different formations, it would add some interest to the tour.
Reviewed by: Barbi from on Aug 17 2009 It was OK The cave was neat as caves go. The tour guide was a college girl that was pretty informative and could answer questions. It was a fast moving tour tho and not a lot of time to stop and look.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 06 2008 Great Cave's We've been to cave's all over the country and each and every one of them has something different to offer. I really loved the Dragon that was pointed out to us. Also loved to watch the Hummingbird's at their feeder's while waitng to go in for our tour.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 27 2007 a horrible experience This is truely an example of how man can ruin a beautiful place. WE were paced in a group of 40 (including small children and infants). We had crying babies the entire way- nonstop. We were packed into a small space and could barely hear the tour guide. You couldn't jpay me to go back into that situation again. A pure tourist trap!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 27 2007 Cave Of The Dead The title say's it all, caves are meant to be natual looking not full of concrete. They single handedly killed this cave due to greed. The price is a rip off and they still won't you to pay ten dollars for a photo that they would probably throw away. They should include picture in the price of admisson. The guides try there best at what they are given but there jokes are (what can I say you make up your own mind)they need a new script writer. As for the formation they show you? well do I need to say any more. The only good thing that came out of it is my wife conquered her fear of closed in spaces.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 10 2007 tourist trap total disapointment As far as caves go, this one is about as small and lackluster as any I,ve seen. The price for the basic or short tour is 18.00, way too much. The guides are teenagers who have little knowledge or concern about giving a good tour. There is very little to see in this attraction. A total waste of time and energy. I would not recomend this attraction if it was free.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 20 2007 Not worth the price I went there expecting to see some natural wonders. Unfortunately, the cave has been explored by too many men over the years. There was no great formation inside the cave. Most of the stalactites and stalagmites have been destroyed. Overall, the natural wonders of the cave were not being properly managed. Moreover, it was a bit pricey too.
Reviewed by: Chang'er from on May 19 2006 Awesome This is a good family tour to go to; You dont just go to see but to learn the great wonders of the caverns. Next time your in colorado springs I'd defintely make a stop at the caves of the winds.
