Trouble in Pacific Beach DO NOT EVER MAKE A RESERVATION – If you cancel a month before arrival date you will still be charged and they will not refund. This happened to me. I called one month before arrival date. They could not even find the reservation. They said "We cannot cancel something we don't have". They had it, they charged for first night (two rooms) when we didn't show up. When we asked for refund for a reservation we didn't have, they did everything they could think of to put us off, ignore us, blame others, make us prove it. They simply do not care about their customers. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS TAKING YOUR MONEY. THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS, THEY'RE TROUBLE. Would you recommend this to a friend? No
Why? / Why Not? THE OWNER IS DOWNRIGHT MEAN
Been Here Before Like the review by "Lots of Fun"; this is a very charming place to stay when your in the Monterey area. We also attend the Lagua Seca races and have been here several times. Close enoungh to walk to beach. Close enough to walk for meals. A short dirve to Cannery Row.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Mar 12 2008 Nice place and great value I was looking for a was looking for a cheap place to stay close to the Asilomar conference site. Butterfly Grove was clean and quiet, very reasonable, and a short trip by car to any place in the Monterey/Carmel area. The management was very responsive to all my requests. It would be great for a family getaway also.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Aug 15 2006 Lots of Fun Super neat atmosphere. Cozy Cottages are available. Rooms are spacious and clean. Loved the location. We have stayed here several times, while attending the Laguna Seca Motorcycle Races in July. Close to the Track. Close to resturants and Monterey for follow-on race events.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Feb 18 2006 Great Location, comfortable rooms I've stayed here a few times and will definitely go back again. The main selling point of this hotel is it's location. It's on Lighthouse Avenue, about 1/2 mile from shopping, cafes, movie theatre and restaurants. It's less than a mile to Lovers Point and just a little further to get to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The hotel itself is small with cute little cottage-type rooms. Rooms are clean and decent size. There's also an outdoor pool and hot tub. If you visit from November to March, you can see the migrating Monarch butterflies that hang out in the Eucalyptus grove directly behind this hotel.
