Great place! Would certainly return again!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were given adjoining rooms for our party of 6. The rooms were larger than the usual rooms we have stayed in and they were clean, with more than adequate linen for us all. There were several guests that were dogs owners, and their pets were very quiet and well behaved. The kids and adults both enjoyed the heated, indoor pool with lifeguard. The continental breakfast had many choices. There is a gift shop next door and also helicopter rides, which we took advantage of. The American Falls is within walking distance. The staff recommended a family type restaurant that was great and not pricey. Wish we could have stayed longer! The greatest asset the hotel has is their wonderful staff! Thank you for the nice visit!

Wonderful stay, definitely would recommend it!
Shame on those that gave such awful reviews! We were greeted by very, friendly and helpful people that went out of their way to make our stay a good one. This hotel has a very nice pool, clean comfortable rooms and a very adequate continental breakfast. We walked to the falls every day of our stay. Its not the Ritz, no one puts a chocolate on your pillow or makes funny little animals with the towels....but its not a dive either. Its family and wallet friendly, leaving more money to be spent on the attractions nearby, which to us is the reason we go on vacation. We go to see the sites, not the hotel! We will definitely stay again on the next trip.

It's fine.
Our room is clean- no bugs or spiders. There is a lifeguard at the pool. The maid is very friendly. Woman in gift shop was very helpful.

Well....It was close...
Best part about this motel; Can't get much closer to the faalls on the US side! Room was okay, but the place could use a little TLC. 4th Floor smelled of old carpet. Breakfast room was really small, and very warm. Only had 5-6 small tables for guests.

Not Impressed - Dirty
Carpets in rooms and hall areas were filthy. I would not walk in bare feet. We had black mold in the shower area and the entire bathroom needed a good scrubbing. The hotel is old and that is ok, as I've stayed in many old hotels. But filth and dirt are not ok. On the plus side the staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the location is just fabulous. You can walk to everthing. Such a shame that a hotel in such a wonderful location doesn't "clean up its act"!!

Okay...
The Howard Johnson was about a 10 minute walk to the falls so that was pretty good. However, there are not many good restaurants in the area. Next time it would be better to stay on the Canadian side (better for tourists and probably a better view).

Would never stay there again. Would sleep in my car first.
The service in this hotel was like being at the state DMV office. Very cold reception. Nobody smiles. The room condition was horrible. This was a suite. There was two inches of dust on the entertainment center. The floor look like my grandaughter just got done eating. The toilet dripped very loudly and leaked like the Niagara River. The jacuzzi was alright. I would sleep on a park bench before I would ever stay there again.

A nightmare of a nite
First .of all our room was dirty. Mold all over the bathroom. Next we didn't read the fine print and didn't know pets were allowed. the room next to ours had a dog in it that was left alone and BARKED constantly from at least 7:00 pm until 11:00. We phoned the desk and went down and was told that nothing could be done. Isuggested that as long as nobody answered the phone they could go up and take the dog down to their office and he could bark all he wanted to. Don't think I will ever go back to that motel and probably will never use another Howard Johnson's either.

Won't go back
Needs renovation. Not worth the $89/night. Continental breakfast was good, but there were only 6 tables (seating 2-3 people each) for the entire 5 story hotel; not enough room to actually enjoy the breakfast. While it truly is 10 min. walking to the falls, the hotel itself it rundown and dirty. Hotel staff was nice, but I won't go back.
