Disappointed!!!
I took my family there recently, May 2008. The entrance fee was quite high in comparable to Malaysian standards. The food was terrible. The food was expensive and tasted terrible. The famous burger Ramly urger we ordered were dry overcooked and had no taste. It cost me R$20 for 2 small water bottle and 3 "sugar" ice cream. There were flies all over the food preparation area. The man handling the food was also handling the money and the thrash. There is no cleanliness and very bad hygiene practise. The toilet was dirty and disgusting! The lower waterfall "pool" water is dirty. The rental for the tube is expensive and there is no safety precautions. The "waterslide" is not even worth a ride. This place should have been kept the way it was many years ago, ALL NATURAL and not trying to make it a water theme park which is more for the monkeys! My family stayed for only an hour and they wanted to leave b/c they were bored to death! A waste of money and time. Very disappointed!
Would you recommend this to a friend?
No

Why? / Why Not?
A waste of money and time!

Travel Diary - Kota Tinggi waterfall, Johor
Pre===Couldn't remember where I heard about Kota Tinggi waterfall (KTW). Been to Erawan waterfall in Kanchanaburi, which is a series of seven waterfalls and enjoyed working my way up to the top, decided to pay to visit to KTW. This waterfall has been a popular spot with tourists for many years.Trip====Cleared Sin and Mas customs on a Friday morning before 10 am. For the first time I saw bus 160, which terminates at Kota Raya II terminal at Woodlands checkpoint bus waiting area. Locate the bus stop besides City Square, opposite the Keratapi Tanah Melayu (KTM, also known as Malay Federation Railway) Johor Bahru (JB) station. From here, one can take bus transitlink 41, 227 or Maju bus to Kota Tinggi (KT). The fare is RM3.50. For transitlink bus, it is one man operation (OMO), pay exact fare while you board on bus. Two man operation (TMO) for Maju bus. Alternatively, you can take the yellow Causewaylink bus no. 66, operated by Handal Indah from Larkin Terminal. Expect the same fare to KT.All KT bound buses will go to Ulu Tiram first, a town where you can find a lot of small & medium enterprise (SME) factories, manufacturing latex products, office furniture or even tropical fish/aquariums. The journey continues... after 1 1/2 hrs, the bus pulled over at KT bus terminal. Had lunch (malay style chicken rice), brought some snacks and water at Plaza Kota Tinggi supermarket and back to the bus terminal.Approached some bus companies personnel at KT bus terminal, knowing that there is one bus to the waterfall, transitlink bus 43, infrequent (only 6 trips per day). RM2 will bring you to the entrance of the waterfall park. The plate of the bus written: waterfall, lombong (mines in Malay). The time table of the bus, according to the Indian bus driver, as follows: 6:30 7:30 10:30 11:30 1:30 2:30. The last bus will arrive at the waterfall entrance at around 3:15 and you can expect to be back to KT town before 4 pm.Beware of some Taxi drivers. They wil tell you something like: (1) The bus experienced tire puncture or (2) Bus driver going to prayer session on Friday (3) Bus very slow and the waterfall is far away. They will be asking for RM12 for single trip to KTW (share by 4 persons). However, the normal fare is RM10 per car. If happen to be some private car (known as "sapu") who willing to take you there, the charge is RM8.Pay RM2.50 for the entrance to the park. Many are swimming in the cool waters at the base of falls. Sharp channels of water flushing continuously, quiet with sounds of birds, insects and you can feel the freshness of natural impression.Post====Going back to KT by taking the last bus, have a nice chat with the driver. To stay a bit longer at the waterfall, it is advisable to take the 10:30/11:30 bus from KT to the waterfall.Budget======Bus JB - KT RM3.50 * 2 KT - Waterfall RM2.00 * 2Meals Lunch + Dinner RM10.00Newspaper RM1.20Toilet charges RM0.20 * 3Snacks and water RM5.00Waterfall entrance RM2.50Around RM30 - RM40
