Supremely Romantic and Quiet
We stayed for our 10 year anniversary. Very quiet and peaceful with a room overlooking the vineyard. Wonderful spa with great couples treatments. Dinner at Marinus Restaurant was out of this world (and expensive). My wife surprised me by having the room decorated prior to our arrival by Romantic Room Designs company. Nice touch/romantic. Would definitely return (and plan on doing so for our 15th).
Would you recommend this to a friend?
Yes

Why? / Why Not?
The high level of service, solitude, restaurant. Carmel Valley is actually a really neat place with wine tasting rooms.

Wouldn't spend my own money to go
We went for 3 days with a company board meeting. The rooms were fair; nothing more. The food was unexceptional, almost poor. The staff was self-impressed in the front hall although others were quick to say hello on the grounds. The spa was understaffed so all they could say was "sorry, no and sorry, no". I would not come back to spend my own money here.

Incredibly relaxing
The rooms are large and comfortble. They have a luxurious home feel to them. The grounds and atmosphere is upscale, but relaxed. The services is also excellent.

Romantic
I live in Monterey, and my boyfriend and I wanted to get away, but didn't ahve the time to actually go somewhere. We drove out to Bernardus, where we'd had dinner before but never actually stayed there. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, rooms gorgeous (we stayed in suite 18 which overlooks the croquet lawn--stunning). The food is freshly picked and the service is excellent. It was a very romantic weekend, and one we hope to have again, very soon and for years to come.

Best hotel i have ever stayed at
You will never stay at a better place in your life. The service is impecable from the moment you drive up to the door, to the moment you leave. Everyone is treated with the utmost respect and attention to detail. From the glass of wine you are handed when you arrive, to the turn down service accompanied by a little something the chef prepared, to the bottle of water the valet hands you as you get in your car to depart home. The rooms are beautifully decorated with luxurious feather beds, jacuzii tubs and fireplace in each room. There is also a pool and spa at the hotel where I had the best massage I have ever had in my life. There are only about 55 rooms in the entire place and they center around a bocce ball and croquet course. There is also an outdoor fire place for you to sit by and enjoy a bottle of wine in the evening. The restaurants, Marinus and Wickets have excellent food. You will not be disappointed. Basically, if you want a good place to stay that is worth every penny, Bernardus is your place.
