The decor of The Crown and Anchor certainly makes you feel as though you're in old England and not Monterey. As for the food, they have the best bangers and mash. Their steak and mushroom pie is incredible. They have everything from fish and chips, to chicken curry, which my husband says is the best he's had outside of London. The bartenders and wait staff are friendly and efficient. We've always felt like we're going into a neighborhood pub. Lots of regulars, so it's not just a place for tourists. You never feel as though you have to order a beer or drink just because you're in a pub. Get the iced tea. It's great. After going there for 4 years when we visit Monterey, we now feel at home and start to have Crown and Anchor withdrawal if we're away too long.

C&A has a great selection of beers, great staff, reasonable prices, cozy atmosphere, the strongest hand-dryer in the world (at least in the ladies' room), and great entrees & appetizers. Outdoor patio area is also fun.

Genuine British cuisine mixed in with fun California elements like Jalapeno poppers. Great selection of beers and skilled bartenders.
