The Vast Open Space
Tiananmen is an enormous concrete open space and itis hard to see it as a tourist attraction at times but you need to have the history of th Square firmly in your head and you realise that today's Square is a part of it's past. Now though it is peaceful and carefree on the surface but EXTREMELY hot on a summers day, no shade and little breeze. Wear a Hat.

Patriots
At the sun rise there have got to be over a 1000 people watching the flag go up. At sun set it is the same. They love their country

You have to go.
But, see the Great Wall First. Here, you will attract vendors and "art students". It is a lot of walking but it is so historic that you have to go. So go and get it over with.
