A company called Tampereen Särkänniemi Oy was established in 1966 to develop the Särkänniemi area, and they created the Särkänniemi Experience Park, now open all year round. There are seven different attractions to visit in the park: the Aquarium, the Planetarium (1969), the Children's Zoo (1970), the Näsinneula tower (1971), the Särkänniemi amusement park (1975), the Sara Hildén art museum (1979) and the Dolphinarium (1985). The latest attraction to open in Särkänniemi is the new exciting roller-coaster, opened in summer 2001. Särkänniemi runs an internet academy on its web pages; open to everyone, you can learn for example about the world of marine mammals or about astronomy. The Academy pages include information, pictures, audio and video. All the attractions have different opening hours.
