Work began on this magnificent library, designed by Vincent Harris , in 1930 and there was a grand opening in 1934 by King George V. The architecture is beautiful and the round reading room is of particular interest. Divided into departments, the top floor has a very good linguistic and foreign language department with audio facilities and friendly staff who are always ready to help you find what you need. Census material and historical documents about Manchester are also kept here on microfiche. The library is extremely popular with students and everyone ,from business people to children - is catered for. There is also a well appointed café and a small theater in the basement.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York! Experience New York At It's Finest!JustClickLocal.comAlaska – it’s HOT! Manchester Irish Festival
Mar 6th, 2010 to Mar 18th, 2010
Manchester Irish Festival, a well established annual festival held during the middle of March allows Manchester to celebrate its large Irish population and their cultural impact on the area, with a wide range of special events, concerts and exhibitions. There is always lots of music from world renowned artists such as Van Morrison, comedy nights, Gaelic art displays, dancing, theatre, craft markets and of course the now legendary city centre St Patrick's Day Parade. This festival is celebrated at quite a few venues namely Albert Square, Manchester Town Hall and many more throughout the city. It is definitely an event that is fun for all the family.
