Reviewed by: Peter from on Feb 10 2009 don't linger..take your pic with mao and go! there is definitely the wow factor associated with Mao's portrait. after you get over that creepy feeling of Mao staring down at you, the desire to clutch your bag and avoid eye contact with others prevail due to the numerous beggars and shady looking characters (pickpockets and people trying to sell you junk).

Contributor from on Dec 29 2006 breath taking view this place was a place where we should bow our heads for the chinese nations of thier life in this maozidong. he is a wonderful man to be in this life and the people they may have sinned but they are still coming to this place to remember him. the beggers and pickpocketers have thier life in this and should be happy with thier life and what they recieved in thier life with god by thier sides. they may have done this for a living and someday if they pray to god they might recive the money they need to support them from the kind people in donations
Reviewed by: karsten from on Nov 19 2006 Check out Gardens If you are pressed for time, or have already toured the Forbidden City, check out the gardens outside. The tulips and peonies in April are great and there are childrens rides and performers throughout the outside of the park-like gardens.

Not really much to do except some great crowd watching. Oh yeah and you can take the traditional picture of someone standing below the HUGE picture of Mao.
