If you hit this place on a clear day, there aren't too many places in the world as beautiful. Well worth the small fee to get in and is a must see for visitors to San Diego. HIghly, Highly Recommend.

Must see!
Point Loma is one of our favorite spots in San Diego and we go twice a year. So much to do in the Cabrillo Monument area - see the old and new lighthouses, visit the museum and gift shop, enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view of San Diego and the ocean, take a walk on the winding path and see the old WW2 bunker, and enjoy the constant Pacific breezes. Don't forget to visit Rosecrans Cemetery and eat at the Point Loma Seafood Restaurant.

The BEST Views of San Diego
Cabrillo National Monument and the Point Loma Lighthouse provide the BEST view of San Diego harbor. On a clear day, which is most days in this great city, you feel as though you can literally see forever. This is a good place for the experienced traveler and youngsters and there's a lot more to see than just the monument area and lighthouse. The tide pools are great to explore and the trails are fun to hike. The WW II history of Point Loma is also depicted in a small, but informative exhibit close to the lighthouse. For a momemt of quiet reflection, stop at the military cemetary after you leave the monument.

Excellent Views!
You can see the whole San Diego cityscape from Cabrillo. People have taken pictures of the city & the snow capped mtns before. Walking around the tide pools is lots of fun. Sometimes you can see the whales when they are migrating.

breath taking
The trip does not start at Cabrillo National Monument. I have a child buried at Fort Rosecrans Cemetery so that is where our trip started. It is a beautiful drive along the ocean. After the cemetery we continued on up the road. Still breath taking. We stopped at the tide pools. The kids loved getting their feet wet trying to find all the sea creatures that are listed on the board. We could spend hours up there. Then off to the light house. It is a very educational place to stop. It shows some war time facts. The light house is set up like it may have been in the days. You can see Coronado from the light house. It still takes my breath away no matter how many times we go up there. My son asked to go back in 2 weeks.

I have a friend who was married here. You can enjoy a beautiful view from the cliffs, which you should definitely go for the sunset.
