The National Museum houses artifacts which date from 7,000 B.C. to the 20th century. The Kildare Street site is home to pieces from Viking times, alongside Celtic masterpieces and one of the largest collections of Bronze Age gold in the world. The centerpiece of the collection is the Ardagh Chalice, which dates back to 800 A.D. The museum also includes an exhibition dealing with Ireland's struggle for independence from 1916-1922.
