Known as the 'Blue Wonder' because of its distinctive turquoise colour, Blauer Wunder bridge links the districts of Blasewitz and Loschwitz. Built from 3,500 tonnes of iron and 100,000 rivets, it is widely regarded as a masterpiece of 19th century engineering. When the bridge opened in 1893, it was Europe's first to be built without pylons. Each side of the river (Körnerplatz on the right bank and Schillerplatz on the left bank) is lined with restaurants and beer gardens. Photographers should head to Schillergarten for the best shot of the bridge.disabled access.
