One of the most specialized exhibitions in Tampere is the Coffee Cup Museum in Pispala. In addition to coffee cups, the museum displays some old bicycles, the oldest of which dates back to 1880. The cup collection consists of approximately 1300 items by Arabia, the leading Finnish manufacturer in the field. The cups have been hung on the walls in age order. However, the purpose is not to construct a complete history of coffee cups; few items have exact dates on them. The most common motifs encompass flowers and other plants, but the variety of themes by no means limited to these. The cups, many of which have women's names, and the heavy old bicycles, some with little motors, together create an interesting aesthetic contrast.
