Hótel Barbró is well situated in the small town of Akranes, only half an hour's drive from Reykjavík if one drives through the recently built Hvalfjörður tunnel. There is not much to be seen in Akranes, but the town is well situated for those wanting to have access to Borgarfjörður and the west of Iceland while having Reykjavík within reach. The hotel is located in a beautiful old stone building with dignity and grace in abundance, probably the most elegant house in Akranes. It has recently been renovated to serve as a hotel. The rooms are quite comfortable, without any luxury. The hotel's strength is the house itself, its small size and location.
