At Laugarbakkar you can combine a visit to a café where you can relax and have a cup of coffee while touring the south of Iceland, or if someone else is driving you can have something stronger. Greeted by a football-playing dog, you step out of the car just outside the entrance. The café and the barn share the same entrance. Although open all day, it is strongly recommended that you visit during milking hours, between 8a and 9a and 5p and 7p every day of the week. If travelling with children, it is imperative to ask for permission to enter the cow house. There they can approach the cows and learn about milk production. The owner organises special events and receptions for groups - and who knows, he may even play the guitar and sing for you.
