Back to Sonesta Beach Resort Awful! UGH - our stay was miserable. My agent was able to get us an upgraded room, but I couldn't tell what about it was upgraded about it. Hotel was rundown, spa was a joke, the location on the island is awful, the bar had the same band playing every night and just wore different outfits and played different songs to make it seem as it was a different band. The place they "held our luggage" on the last day (we had a late departure) was actually in the lobby where everyone was walking in and out - not secure at all. The resturants in the hotel was sub-par, and their "upscale" hotel was the worst of the bunch!!! The staff there needs a dose of reality (too much island time) to be more aware of their impact on customers and what it takes to get them to return. I wont be back.
Reviewed by: Simsbury from on Sep 28 2009 Why I Think Wyndham Should Stay The Same I just think that there should be one in St. George's as well. It would make a great water park. I think it is a great place for families to chill out and have. I especially enjoyed the themed meals that they have every night.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Nov 14 2006 Awful! The resort was a huge disappointment. From the internet info we were expecting a luxurious hotel with a full size water park. Wrong! The water slides were small and the lazy river was a small circle. The hotel is terribly understaffed and the service was terrible...The staff and other guests agree with our opinion. The best thing about our stay was that the food at the hotel was very good, but you can find that elsewhere. We checked out two days early(without a refund) and went to the Fairmont Princess in Hamilton for the last two nights of our trip...It was fabulous!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 22 2006 Would never go back! The hotel was damaged by a hurricane 2 years ago and half the hotel is still closed and under construction. Our room was not ready when we arrived and we had to wait until 5:00. They accidently gave us three pieces of fruit and wine. Hotel employees came knocking on the door for it at two separate instances and treated us as if we were stealing. The service at the front desk was poor. They gave us bus schedules from 2002. We found out towards the later end of our trip the hotel was up for sale for quite a while and was purchased the week we were visited. The tennis courts no longer exist just the pile of rubble. The health club access is reached by walking down an alley. The best items in the restuarants were chicken fingers and salad. They ran out of coffee for the coffee makers in the rooms. It is a the bottom of a very steep, long hill, the walkway to the street or bus stop is for only the young and fit. The lights on this dangerous walkway were not working at night. When I mentioned this to the bellhop he smiled and said oh ya..

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Apr 25 2006 Will NEVER, EVER go back The first day we're check in, the bathroom was disgusting. There were yellow spot all over the toilet seat. The shower curtain had mildew all over the, especially at the bottom of the curtain. And of course, the two cups in the bathroom was rusted. We're paying $200 per night. I had to call Housekeeping twice, the first time when they come in to check I was not in the room. When I got back, the bathroom look the same. So I call and they said” those spot could not be removed, it's rusted". The lady said I will come up, and I waited this time. She brought some thing and sprays it and it came out. So I show her the shower curtain and she couldn't believe it herself how nasty it looks. She took the whole curtain off without replacing another one, so we use the shower without shower curtain. By the way, the shower head was rusted as well. I did complain to the front desk the next day but they were just putting an act like said” really, is it clean now?" but did not apologize to us. Never again I would stay at any Wyndham Hotel. I booked the hotel because people were telling me usually the Wyndham Hotel is nice.

Reviewed by: john from on May 20 2005 Expectations exceeded! I have to say, given the poor reviews this property received for the 2004 season, I did not have high expectations. Maybe that's why I was so blown away by my week's stay at the Wyndham from 4/30 - 5/6. I've always been the pioneering type, and the promise of a newly renovated hotel with waterpark was too much to turn down. I was happily surprised. If you are considering the Wyndham you should go for it. It really doesn't have any competition on the island in terms of the "fun" factor. The staff is very friendly too. Overall, I had an excellent stay.
