Back to Cowboy Trail Rides, Inc. Don't pay in advance! I would strongly discourage anyone from paying for their tour in advance. I had book and paid for my tour 2 weeks in advance and then Cowboy Trail Rides contacted me the day before my tour to cancel due to them not having a permit to operate in the park. I understand paperwork issues can arise, but one month after my scheduled tour date I still hadn't received a refund despite several phone calls (where I was assured my card would be credited) and emails (that went unanswered). I ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card company in order to receive a reversal of the charge. If this is any indication of the company's solvency, they may not be around much longer.
Reviewed by: Honeymooner from on Dec 05 2008 Did not even get a chance! About 3 years ago my husband I went to Las Vegas. We planned a trip to go on the horseback ride at sunset. I called and confirmed my reservations and I was told by the receptionist to wait for the driver outside the front of our hotel that we were staying at. My husband and I waited for about an hour and I called again to make sure he was going to pick us up and that we were at the right place! The receptionist said that there was traffic and he was running a little behind! Two hours later we were still waiting on the driver! By that time we were hot, tired, and mad! So I asked the bellman at the hotel we were staying if they usually pick up people at this area! The bellman told us that normally at the front entrance of the hotel and he said nicely this were you are! So after we were forgot about I guess? We found something else to do after we had already paid for the trip! When we got home from the trip I called and asked why we were not picked up and they said b/c we were not at the front entrance of the motel! I told them that we had waited and waited at the front with the bellman if she would like to confirm this with him I had his name! They would not even try to make it right with us! Not offer anything not even our money back! She just said that we should have been at the right place! Which we were! I did not even get my money's worth and have no idea how much fun we could have had! I will never book a trip with them again! They could have at least said the next time you come to Las Vegas we will make it right. We go to Vegas every year so we could have gone the next year! Oh well I guess its my loss and their gain! I hope they don't just take people's money and not every pick them up. And them blame it on the people! I always was taught being from the south you treat people they you want to be treated! I guess that does not matter to some people!
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jun 04 2008 Experience Its a horseback ride. Its not air conditioned. Its not soft and fluffy. It is a wonderful experience. The guides took us through some places that I did not think goats would go. The guides were as helpful and informative as I wanted them to be. I wanted a nice peaceful ride away from every day life. If we wanted a hard ride the guides were fine with it, if we wanted easy they were fine, there was not a lot of information given. But, the ride lasted well past the alotted time and the guides seemed very happy to be on a horse riding around and enjoying the experience almost as much as my wife and daughter did. With that said we grew up around horses, so for us this was amazing...
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Dec 26 2007 Will not be back We went on the 2 hour rim ride on 10-2-07. We have been to Red Rock Canyon on two other occassions and find it a great place. The horseback trip from Cowboy Tours left alot to be desired. The bus was not in good shape and the staff seemed unorganized when we arrived. They gave no information about the area and overall they gave very little effort. The staff was friendly but the bottom line is I will not recommend or come back, and I have never written a poor review on a trip.
Reviewed by: jeff from on Oct 06 2007 Poor Customer Service I made reservations for a trail ride over the internet. I was supposed to get a phone call to give them my credit card info but no call came. After several weeks I called long distance on my dime to give them my credit card #. A month later our plans changed and I needed to cancel. Sent an email on April 30 asking to cancel the ride scheduled for May 17. Got no reply but did receive an email return receipt so I know they received my email. Wrote two other times again with no reply. I am currently going through a disputed transaction with my credit card company. Alot of trouble due to their total lack of customer service.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on May 21 2007 Loved it! This was the highlight of our trip out to Las Vegas. We had a nice trail ride with beautiful scenery everywhere you look. The food was really good too. The camp fire was just awesome with the wranglers telling tales of the old west as the stars are shinning bright in the beautiful desert sky. Would go again as a matter of fact we are!
Reviewed by: StacyS from on Apr 24 2007 Awesome experience Went on the 2 hour ride on 3/15/07 with Nancy and Tim and had a great time. Nancy really knows her horses, and has some great stories to tell. They are very concerned with safety and your comfort. Horses are well taken care of and well loved ; they actually have their own names, which, if you've ever been to a horseback riding facility, tells you alot about how much they care for their animals. We own several horses and can tell that they are taking care of their horses. Very friendly, funny, easy going people, can't say enough about these people. Will recommend to anyone going to Vegas, and will ride with them again! I rode a horse named Little Joe and he was so sure footed, never slipped once, really knew what he was doing. You will not regret the time spent on this ride. Van picked us up, clean, good working A/C, word of advice, bring sunscreen and a camera, great views. Hope you have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reviewed by: LISA from on Mar 20 2007 Beautiful Experience, just know who your guide is. I recently did the Wow ride. It was absolutely breathtaking. The scenery of the mountains, the Joshua trees, everything was amazing. The only wildlife we saw was a jack rabbit though:) Everyone at the ranch was extremely nice EXCEPT for our guide. I wish we would have known. His name was Hawk. He was the worst guide we could have possibly had. He almost ruined the experience for us, but we were too happy to be out in the nature and w/ the horses to pay him mind. He was rude and made us feel like we were imposing our time on him, even though we paid $600 for the ride. He also made sure to touch my rear end as much as possible whening helping me on to my horse. He also cut our ride short by an hour. He was overall the worst part of the experience. So I recommend the ride and the ranch, but just make sure you don't get Hawk and specifically ask not to have him. He is just a horrible person.
