This sacred shrine dedicated to one of the most revered monks of northern Thailand has become an important landmark. Being at the base of the mountain which hosts Chiang Mai's most visited temple, Wat Prathart Doi Suthep, devotees usually pay respects here first before beginning their climb to the top. The Khruba Srivichai statue stands on a pedestal with a small platform where devotees place flowers, incense, candles and other ritual offerings. The area has a very calming ambiance, with lots of greenery and fresh air. Numerous stalls line the road around the shrine, where locals sell items offered to the revered monk.
