Previously known as St Ann's Cottage, President's House is located to the north of the capital, opposite the Queen's Park Savannah and near the Emperor Valley Zoo and the Botanical Gardens. It was built on part of a sugar estate, and it was formerly the residence of Governor Ralph Woodford when he moved to the island in 1820. When it was demolished in 1873, the house was rebuilt as a Victorian-styled "L" shaped structure in honour of governor J. Longden.
