Hirado is a small port town north of Nagasaki City, with enough charm to make you consider staying for a night or two (or longer). Like other towns and cities in Nagasaki, the Dutch presence influenced the early character of the town, though all that remains today are a few structures of Dutch making and historical anecdotes that the townspeople take pride in. But Hirado has much more than European remnants. There is a scenic castle, delicious seafood and the lovely town itself.
