Set in the shadow of Guia Hill, these gardens were once home to the Flora Palace, a beautiful Portuguese styled mansion. Unfortunately this building is no more, after a nearby firecracker factory exploded. All that is left is the old gatehouse that now serves as the garden entrance. Recently refurbished, the gardens now offer inviting shade along tree-lined paths, an aviary and a mini-zoo filled with monkeys and guinea pigs, a somewhat strange combination. Floating overhead are the cable cars that take visitors up to the Guia Fort and Lighthouse and Chapel.
