breakfast is almost the same everyday
I like the staff, they were friendly and always has a smile . The bathroom needs some upgrading. What I don't really like is the free breakfast. It is almost the same everyday. I end up eating only breads instead of my usual heavy breakfast habit. Will still recommend this hotel to my friends.

Needs serious upgrading.
I stayed in this hotel in October 2008. The hotel is conveniently located if you like to 'shop till you drop'. It is attached to a shopping mall, therefore if you find yourself with too many shopping bags to carry you can simply go back to your hotel room to drop your bags off then go back shopping again. If you prefer 4 or 5 star hotels, then this is not the hotel for you. In my opinion this is only a 3-star hotel. (My wife and I take frequent weekend trips outside our residence in San Francisco, Ca. and we stay in a lot of hotels) I was quite dissapointed with my room here. The hotel is really showing its age. The bathroom is depressing. When I was taking a shower one late night after arriving from a night out, I felt a cold drop of water on the top of my scalp. When I looked up I saw water leaking from the ceiling. I promptly called the front desk to report this problem. I was informed that they would send a maintenance man right away. Thirty to forty five minutes later no one had showed up so I decided to call the front desk once again. This time a maintenace man came right away. He quickly diagnosed the problem, the water leak was coming from a bathroom from the upper floor! I was so disgusted, I went down to the lobby to talk with the manager on duty. He was quite unsympathetic at first but when I informed him that I regularly write hotel and airline reviews on the web, he said, "Let's have a deal, give us a good review and I will upgrade you to a suite room." He upgraded me. The suite room is slightly bigger than my previous room. Yipeee! There you go, that's my "good" review. I ate in their restaurant, twice to eat breakfast buffet and once to eat a late lunch. I don't mind paying the equivalent of $15-20 for a breakfast buffet as long I get my money's worth, I only ate there twice because it was convenient but as soon as I found out that the Crowne Plaza Hotel next door has a better quality of food, albeit a little more expensive, I ate breakfast at the Crowne Plaza for the duration of my stay in the Philippines. Once, the waiter at the Holiday Inn Galleria Manila totally forgot to offer me coffee. I timed it how long he was going to ignore me. Well, he failed the test and I saved $5 in waiter tip. I ate a late lunch in their restaurant once. I had a nice cold San Mig, then I ordered an item in the menu but was later informed by the waiter that the item was sold out. I can understand that, it's Filipino food and they probably cook it ahead of time and I was there late in the afternoon. I ordered a crispy pork dish, (I can't remember if it was Crispy Pata or Lechon Kawali). When it was served I found the the portion to be quite small, well fine. Then I saw that half of the pork dish is un-eatable pork fat! I was still hungry after I paid them around P500. One positive note though, the bellman from Pampanga was very friendly and helped me transfer my luggage when I moved to the Crowne Plaza Hotel next door.

Cheapish but in need of some care and attention
I have stayed here twice. I always take a suite. Its a big suite for the money, so value wise I think this is good. However, I have reservations and probably won't be making any more reservations! I ordered a car to meet me at the airport. No one had the brains to tell me where it might be and no one at the airport knew. It took about an hour to find it. I was not impressed. The hotel frankly needs upgrading, I believe they are upgrading it now. The room is big. It is a very big suite, big bathroom, big bedroom, big living room. Furniture is dated the decor is in need of attention and I was not happy to share with the local cockroaches. The breakfast is not something I enjoyed having experienced them back in 2006 when I stayed there the first time decided to go elsewhere for that. Service is fine, its pretty central and its cheap(ish) so its an average hotel when you consider the price (which will no doubt go up when they finish refurbishing). I think I prefer the Edsa Shangri-La..!

Awful
I stayed a month (against my will) so my review would be from more experience than anyone else writing. The food was just awful. The fruits and vegetables were never fresh. Dishes were very sugary, saltly, greasy, and the meats were hard. The food began to take a toll on my health. It was the most unpleasant month I have ever experienced in my life. There was no fresh air in the rooms and I found it hard to breath. Once they sprayed the room, and it may me ill. The pressure of this awful place caused me serious health problems. I would definitely not stay here. In fact, I never want to go back to the Philippines again because of this wretched hotel.
