This trendy La Jolla joint is "the spot" for nightlife and premium cuisine. The bar is popular among thirty-something professionals. Expect to find large crowds, particularly on weekends. Many customers visit this place for one main culinary reason: steak. Utilizing the famous Al Farber's Char-Crust Spices, this restaurant offers a bevy of tantalizing steak specialties. Try the hometown-favorite Junior Seau Steak. And, for those customers who cannot get enough of the homemade barbeque sauce, purchase a bottle to take home. They also serve great hamburgers and sandwiches. See website for full menu.

Rude without a cause
A recent experience at this establishment merits a mention here as it involves extremely rude behavior by the “owner”. Our party of 3 had just ordered our dinner, when a young man poked his head in our booth and said loudly and sardonically, “Thanks for stealing our menu covers.” He disappeared, before we could react. I asked our waiter, a very pleasant young man, who that person was. He said embarrassed, “The owner.” To make a long story short, “The owner” accused us of theft, refused to address the issue, refused to identify himself, and remained extremely unpleasant and impolite. I should mention that our party included me, a business exec in my forties, a guest – she is a business exec from Europe, and my father who at 81 is a retired physician and a long term resident of La Jolla. While this incident might be explained as the frustrated reaction of a tired and overwhelmed restaurateur to the day’s events, insulting customers are never acceptable service. La Jolla has a lot of great places to eat, avoid this one.

Why? / Why Not?
La Jolla is a great place. We certainly don't need embarrassing and rude behavior by "hospitality businesses" to become our hallmark.

Good thin crust pizza
The thin crust pizza is great. Very Very Good!!! But the service sucks. The wait staff sucks and needs a refresher course on customer service skills. But if one ever wants to truley have the best deep dish pizza and stuffed deep dish pizza, go to Lefty's in North Park. Best Chicago pizza ever. And they're nice as well.
