Extremely Dissapointing!
It took us upwards of 2 hours to find this site. There were no signs to lead up to the location, and ultimately it was closed to the public. Upon finding it, we were very dissapointed, having had to walk across a littered field, with grass up to our kness. Be careful, the neighborhood is not the greatest.

Work in Progress
I've visited this site many times over the past years. It looks better and better every time I go. There's much more that needs to be done, but it looks 100X better. I've seen the plans for this area and they look promising. The group has taken an tired looking, old, littered up 10 acres and made it presentable. It won't be long before it's a tourist destination.

Why? / Why Not?
This is a historical site of Omaha's most famous native. It hasn't had the attention (therefore money) of other memorial sites, but step by step, it's getting there.

A wake-up call!
I gave my vist to the birthsite of El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X) high ratings because of what the person means to us as species and our potential dispite the situation we are born into.

Needs improvement
Five years ago when I visited there was a land marker but it was vandalized and the area was full of trash. It seems like even the people who live around the site don't respect it.

Nondescript, but incredibly relevant
Omaha is the birthplace of both Gerald Ford and Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little), however the city only proudly boasts of the former with a presidential garden and library. Fortunately, some local residents have begun making X's birthsite discoverable... the site has no museum or visitor's center, nor any informational sign... simply a marker within a fenced-in field.

what a disappointment
followed the signs to an overgrown weed and sapling filled junk pile on an empty lot in a questionable neighborhood. very disappointing and not worth the risk!

Awesome...humbling!
A must-see in Omaha! Just to be in the same space that the great man himself once lived is truly an emotional experience. I only wish that more native Omahans would take the opportunity to visit.
