Forbes Park came into being in the postwar era, when the wealthy moved out of their former enclaves in Ermita and Malate and set up home here. Throughout Manila there are other such "reservations" for the rich, but Forbes remains at the top of the pecking order. Politicians, tycoons, heads of corporations and the like live here, along with ambassadors of wealthier nations. Heavily guarded, Forbes is open to visitors by invitation only.
