Back to University of the Philippines Best University in the Philippines This is the best university in the Philippines. Education is unsurpassed. You need to be a student here to actually know the kind of training we go through. It is not true that the place is not conducive to learning. Not all student are highly politicized. It is true, the buildings are old, updates are needed, cleaning, maintenance. But the brilliance of the educators in this university cannot be compared to others. It is sad how people judge based on what the naked eye sees. Multi billion structures, modern buildings is equivalent to a good university and a good education? That is sad.

Why doesn't the school of Architecture take a lead in its upkeep as an ongoing project of architectural students. Unfortunately the infrastructure is crumbling, the ground, dirty and unkept.

They often criticize but cannot provide solution. Several think that they are still in the 70s where the streets are their classroom.
Reviewed by: Spymark from on Jul 14 2008 Disgusting ! The campus gardens need landscaping and the facilities need repairs. It's hard to believe that the university ranks as the Philippines' best educational institution when it doesn't even get attention from the government. As a tourist, I would rather visit other leading Philippine schools like the UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS or DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY where you can really "feel" the academic atmosphere conducive to learning in the middle of a busy metropolis.
Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Sep 21 2007 So filthy!!! I didn't expect the campus to look so ugly. I feel like I am in a garbage site. Buildings are dilapidated, walls are vandalised, campus grounds are filthy. Why can't the government take care of this venerable institution ?

I could not find any university in the country which has gathered the finest students in the country. For more than ten years, it has blessed and equipped me with theoretical foundation, knowledge and training leading me to where I am. This university offers varied courses. It has the biggest campus in the country surrounded by huge trees.
