The Grüne Gewölbe or "Green Vault" contains the crown jewels and other treasures collected by the Saxon royal family over the centuries. Most pieces date back to August the Strong's time. Visitors can admire the breathtaking crown jewels, as well as hundreds of magnificent items that once belonged to the royal household including clocks, mirrors, candlesticks and silver services. Perhaps the most impressive piece is the carving of the "Delhi Court Celebrating Mogul Aurangzeb's Birthday," which features hundreds of faces intricately carved in miniscule cherry stones.
