This must be one of the world's most famous hotels and one of the most famous tea rooms. Tea is served in a grand, gilt and very pink room adorned with cherubs, columns and mirrors. The Louis XVI decor could be considered over-the-top, but so could the prices at £27 a head for high tea.
But for a refined, and quintessentially English experience it can't be beaten. Sink your teeth into a plate of scones, nibble on sandwiches and sip from the best china as a pianist and harpist tinkle away. It's worth remembering that gentlemen are required to wear jackets and ties so dress with care to avoid disappointment.
