we alway,s use this hotel.
myself and my wife visit Thailand twice a year and when in Bangkok for a couple of days we stay at The Montien .The main reason being it is only 40mins transfer from Don Muang airport, it is in the heart of the city on the doorstep of the places that most visitors to bangkok head for ie The bars , patpong street night market etc. when we break our flight at Bangkok it is nice after 20hrs of travelling to know that we will be arriving at this hotel where we have always found all the staff friendly and efficient.and have never had cause for complaint, the hotel restaurants offer excellent choise of cuisine to suiting all tastes.the live entertainment in the lobby bar is restful after a shop till you drop evening with my wife and helps get you in the mood for round 2 as we hit the bars.at the time of writing we are a week away from our 12th visit . which shows how confident we are in the Montien .

Someone ought to be fired...
I have never experienced a more ignorant and bad reception service. For some reason the hotel had missed my reservation, and did absolutely nothing to try to find out of it, just kept on insisting that I had to pay full price to them on check-in.(I had already paid for the 2-days hotel stay through my travel agent, and had a signed & stamped voucher to prove it). The reception manager was very rude, and eventhough I pointed to the phone number of the Thai travel agent that was stated on the voucher, she refused to call them. Luckily I had my mobile phone, and called my travel agent. After about 1 hour waiting & some phone calls to and fro, I finally got a room. Not a smile, no apology. And it seemed like I got the worst room they got... The swimming pool is crammed, was never able to get a chair. I have experienced cleaner hotel rooms in this prize category, but it was almost made up by the fairly friendly housekeeping staff. Location is great.
