There are many beaches to visit while on Antigua, some more charming than others, but Darkwood beach lends itself to charm, space and location. Darkwood beach sits at the foot of a hilly backdrop and a very live swamp area with birds of many kinds. Following hurricanes and floods this beach has recovered to maintain one of the longest expanses of natural ivory colored sand on the island. There is a little bit of a drop at one end of the beach as you enter the water but the rest of it gracefully declines in its depth. There are no lifeguards at beaches on Antigua so it is always advisable that you come with a friend.
