Back to Oheo Gulch Incredible scenery. Stunning! Oheo Gulch is best enjoyed when you have some time. Get there early in the morning. We stayed overnight in Hana, rather than attempting the round trip on the Hana Highway in one shot. Hana is wonderfully quiet compared to the bustle of the resort areas. When we were at Oheo, the water wasn't flowing as strongly as it can. There is flash flood danger and signs warn you about this, the water can rise quickly if there is a rainstorm nearby.

Reviewed by: Have No from on Nov 20 2007 Leave somewhat early for the Road to Hana To get to the 7 pools you should leave for hana early otherwise you get there late and don't get to spend much time there before dark. Also remember you can't drive around the island on the road to Hana anymore because of the October 2006 earthquake. You still can get to the 7 pools because they did open a temporary bridge. When in doubt you can always call the rangers station to the national park.

Reviewed by: A Yahoo! Contributor from on Jul 28 2007 ABSOLUTLY BEUTIFUL There was nothing to dislike about it except for the windy roads but the trip up was excellent. The view was amazing and there were several places to stop along the way, which were beutiful as well
Reviewed by: Greg from on Feb 14 2007 A must do We have been to Maui twice and I look forward to driving the road to Hana the most. The drive itself is best in some type of convertable so you don't miss anything. Once you get to Hana you should keep going to the 7 pools. It's not marked very well so bring a map or ask afor directions in Hana. On both of my trips to Hana we have driven all the way around the island and not turned back as the maps and most travel guides advise. The road past the 7 pools is for the most part dirt but usually very driveable. Do it!
Reviewed by: K from on Jan 20 2006 Beautiful! This place was magical, almost like something out of a book. This really makes the whole drive through the Hana Highway worth it. The falls are amazing and the pools that they empty into are spectacular especially at the points where they empty into the ocean. Access to the falls requires walking amongst the rocks and trees so be careful. Well worth the time and effort to get there! Make sure to get there early to beat the crowds and tour buses. There's nothing like the serenity of the pools when its nice and quiet.
Reviewed by: Christina N from on Sep 18 2005 WATERFALLS!!!! I LIKE IT ALL, even the road, which is pretty harry at times, but it is part of the experience! The road to Hana is aroung 157 one lane bridges, hair-pin turns and also known as divorce highway, but if you like waterfalls, beautiful shorelines, rain forests, etc. etc. this is the trip to take, if you miss it on Maui, you've missed MAUI!
