Coming Back
My Husband and I came here without our children for our anniversary and birthday. We immeditaley fell in love with the grounds. Large Pools, beautiful waterfalls, Bar by the Pool... What more could we ask for. The room although it was not ocean view was still a great room with a view of the nearby canyons. The only thing we did not expect was that the one bedrooms did not have a stove. Only a microwave, which was a bit of a bumber since we bought all of our food at Costco and Safeway before we checked in. They did have a Barbeque to cook those steaks and chicken we bought. One other bumber is that they did not clean the room everyday. A noticed stated on the 5th day, new towels would be brought to the room along with a light cleaning of the restrooms. They could clean your room each day for $15.00 a day. Overall, we loved this placed and purchased a permanent time share to ensure we come back every other year....

Get your facts straight!
I was staying at the resort when this incident with the "locals" happened that "By wow_whatajourney, 7/28/08" wrote about. For one, the incident took palce in front of the Ka'anapali Ali'i Hotel, not the Marriott and while the locals were out of hand, it was not the security staff of the Marriott dealing with the incident, it was the Ali'i and private security from the Ali'i dealing with the mishap. The security at the Marriott are easily distinguished by thier uniforms being much different than that of the two security outfits at the Ali'i being worn. I did not see the Director of the Marriott security there and I know as I have spoken with him several times during my stay. This I do know, the security at the Marriott is a tight knit group that do an execellent job as I have never seen any problems on our property during our stays. Thanks for keeping my home away from home safe! As for the other persons who had the bad experience, please get your facts straight as you do have a great staff at your property including the security and Director.

Watch out for the locals!
The resort was great. Friendly service, clean and the beachside bar-b-ques were great. However, the beach right in front of the resort has these locals that hang out there everyday. They do not like visitors getting in the way of their bogie boarding. The group of locals, (teenagers) hit my 7 year old son in the head with their bogey board. And when confronted, they tried to start a fight with me. Then just a few minutes later, they hit another kid and when that kid asked what happened, the locals told him to get off "their" beach or there was going to be trouble. Turns out that two dads and a bunch of locals got into a fight. Fists flying and everything. Whenwhile about 20 families were spectating. I went up to the head of security for the Marriott and complained that they were protecting the locals more than the resort visitors. His reply was there is nothing they can do. It's a public beach and there are fights there all the time. I continued to tell this security guard that I had planned on buying a timeshare here, but would not now if my kids were not going to be safe on the beach. He replied, "good for you and better for us!" BEWARE!!!!! Obviously, visitors don't come first at the Marriott Ocean Club!

Planning another trip to Maui
My husband and I stayed at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club and it was the best vacation ever. I have traveled to over 28 states so I have a lot to compare Maui with. Myrtle Beach SC does not compare with Maui. Location was great!! Beach front! The best luau on the beach was held right at the hotel. The road to hana was nice. The room was immaculate and the outside area was free of any debris. Temperature was an average of 80-85 degrees. Very romantic place, but nice for families too! You can snorkle, take a day cruise to another bay, bicycle, road to hana, relax on the beach, or go shopping nearby. I'm planning a family vacation now and hope it is as great as the first!

Best vacation ever! Kid and adult friendly
After receiving the brochure in the middle of a snowstrom, I was hooked on going. What a delight to arrive. The pictures do not disappint. The setting was great. Beautiful grounds with tons of waterfalls, koi ponds and private niches to relax. Tons of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Great fitness room, kids pirate ship pool was a huge hit, enormous 3 acre pool, surfed a break right out front, short walk to tons of great restaurants, shopping, etc. Could not believe what a great value it was! Rooms were just renovated and showed like new with adequate kitchen facilities, large bedrooms and lanais and dvd player for the kids. Great on site activities, but were so blown away by the pool and beach that we didnt take full advantage. If you wanted though they had yoga, lei making, Hawaiian language, hula classes and other things to keep you busy if you needed to escape the sun, or pass a rainy day. The staff was friendly and made you feel at home right away. Clean, uncrowded laundry facilities. Never worried about safety, or leaving belongings out. On site shops were comparably priced, so no need to hunt out an ABC store for forgotten or last minute items. Cant recommend enough. We stayed 3 nights at another hotel and were sorely disappointed after staying at the Maui Ocean Club.

Great First Hawaii Trip!
Although the service could have been a bit more polite, this hotel helped me to enjoy my first trip to Hawaii greatly.

CAN I LIVE THERE?
The view from our room was overlooking the pool area. We could sit on the balcony in the morning and drink coffee and just enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather. Couldn't have been much better.
