The famous painter Francisco de Goya was born in 1746 in Fuendetodos, a small village less than an hour's drive from Zaragoza. The artist Ignacio Zuloaga bought Goya's house at the beginning of the 20th century, along with the neighbouring old school house. The latter provided accommodation for the family who were to take care of Goya's birthplace and show it to visitors. Both buildings were partially damaged during the Civil War, meaning that walls and basements had to be restored. The old school is now an art gallery specialising in graphic art, which ranges from antique etchings to contemporary prints.NYC Best Hotel Deals: 50% Savings In New York!
