Every summer, the Ravinia Festival offers the finest in the performing arts at suburban Ravinia. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra makes its home here from June to September during the festival. Popular artists of all kinds appear, including Yo-Yo Ma, Los Lobos, Tony Bennett, the Joffrey Ballet and Lyle Lovett. Sit on the spacious grounds and enjoy a picnic (pack your own or buy one at the many excellent establishments on premises). Be forewarned though, lawn seating does not provide a view of the performance.
